In my youth I lived on a farm and consequently spent endless hours in nature. I worked on tractors and in the garden. Those years fostered a love and connection to the natural world. I am continually inspired by the study of botany as well as the utilitarian skills of wood and metalworking. As a result natural elements have become the subject of my imagery or a medium in itself. Physicality, tactility, and time-based process are indispensable elements of the techniques I employ. I value the presence of the artist’s hand and the physical engagement of the artist’s body. I desire to create work that is both visually engaging as well as physically related to its viewer.
